Our body produces new skin cells in the deepest layer of skin. These skin cells gradually move up through the layers of skin until they reach the outermost level, where they die and flake off. This whole process normally takes around 3 to 4 weeks.

 Euphorbia fischeriana Steud., a member of the genus Euphorbia (Euphorbiaceae), grows principally in Mongolia, Eastern Siberia and the coastal areas of northeast to Shandong in China. These areas are always dominated by grassland, hill slopes or gravel hillside, with an average altitude of 100–600 m. This perennial herb is characterized by alternate leaves and involucre campanulate with white pilose (Flora of China Editorial Committee, 1997).The whole plant, fresh root and prepared medicine of E. fischeriana are shown in Fig. 1. Although the dried root of E.fischeriana has large toxicity, it is used as one of the key sources of traditional Chinese medicine 'langdu' in folk tradition due to the therapeutic effects.
